The Bayfield Boat Yard began building boats in 1970, in a small shed in Bayfield, Ontario, Canada.  Soon outgrowing the Bayfield facility, the company moved twenty miles to Clinton, Ontario.  Bayfield became the largest boat builder in Canada, employing 65 full time artisans.  Manufacture continued until a catastrophic fire and economic downturn caused the company to close in 1988.

Throughout those 18 years, Bayfield constructed superior boats which were immediately considered classics and highly regarded cruisers.  The legend continues today with Bayfield's as 'much sought after' and 'hard to find' vessels.

It was Frank Lloyd Wright who refined the famous phrase; and it is directly applicable to the 36' Bayfield Cutter, Lady C.  He argued form did not necessarily follow function, because "Form And Function Are One".

Her full keel, cutter rig (allowing many sail configurations), her teak and holly appointments, and classic lines combine to present a vessel of unparalleled seaworthiness and beauty.

Lady C is a serious boat in excellent condition, not to be compared with today's plastic and epoxy, production line weekenders of similar size.  She has a relentless quality which is hard to convey; breeding a confidence she really will take you anywhere; whether it be a sunset cruise, a week's vacation, or if you choose.... a circumnavigation.

And she will...  With Comfort and Safety and Elegance.

Lady C is fully outfitted.  There are too many items to attempt an inventory.  Highlights include the following:
